LEARNING TO SOAR ABOVE LIKE AN EAGLE

LEARNING TO “SOAR” ABOVE LIKE AN EAGLE
We are living in some interesting times during this 21st century! Have you listened to the news lately? The Scriptures quite often gives poignant parallels to the lifestyle of a Christian with that of an Eagle. How should we relate when situations, issues and crisis arise in life? God Our Father, LOVES US, He is the ultimate Father! GOD IS LOVE! Like an eagle with the help of the Lord we can “Soar” above our challenges, issues and many obstacles that are so often intentionally placed in our path! God created us for His GLORY! As His people we know that; "In the beginning GOD created the Heavens and the earth!"
Today many psychologists even know that in order to feel safe a secure base is necessary. Jesus Christ is a sure solid “ROCK” foundation! In Him you can find a safe resting place. “Be my rock and my refuge where I can always go...” Psalm 71. God is Omnipresent, He is everywhere we are! As we grow spiritually we need to become more and more conscious of His constant presence. “It is in HIM we live and move and have our being…” As a Christian, our only sure, safe unfailing, true security and significance must rest in God. God has provided us with His Precious Holy Spirit as a permanent Comforter! This is why we can Praise Him through the storms of life!
Here are some interesting facts I would like to share about the amazing Eagle God has created:
The Bald & Golden Eagle are both frequently found in the North American Hemisphere. Classified as Raptors, they live in mountainous areas. Their preferred habitat tends to be to live amidst rugged terrain where there is a greater chance for abundant updrafts. This exotic bird carefully builds their nest which is often known as an aerie; approximate (2) two feet deep and (5) feet across. They add patiently to it year by year, sometimes their nests can weigh as much as (2) two tons.
Eagles themselves in general have a wing span of about (7) seven feet. They are such fascinating creatures. Have keen eyesight and can spot their prey as far as (1) one mile away. They have what is called excellent foveae vision. Meaning they have (2) two centers of vision. They see to the side and forward at the same time! Their vision is (4) four times sharper than our human 20/20 vision and they see in color! Adult male eagles weigh in usually around (9) nine pounds. The females weigh in slightly more between (12) twelve & (13) thirteen pounds. The Golden eagle is usually slightly bigger weighing up to (15) fifteen pounds.
The Eagle does not live in isolation. Interesting thing about the Eagle is they mate for life! Eagles spend most of their time in family groups! In the wild they live around (35) years and in captivity up to (50) years. The Golden Eagle has a shorter lifespan of around (15 - 20) fifteen – twenty years. This strikingly graceful bird flies about 30 m.p.h. and can dive as fast as 100 m.p.h. The Bald Eagle is considered an endangered species. Another interesting fact is. *Golden eagles are protected in the United States through the US Fish and Wildlife Service. Possession of a feather or other body part is a felony with a fine of up to $10,000 and/or 10 years in prison, although federally recognized Native Americans are able to possess these emblems which are traditional in their culture.
It is a beautiful sight to see an eagle glide through the air with seemingly effortless, precise, skill and graceful movement. Eagles live in a constant mode of renewing. Their feathers molt a little at a time for up to six months and are replaced. Interesting how you hardly ever see an Eagle walking…
However, Eagles do occasionally drown. They can see several hundred feet and into the water as well. If an Eagle is not careful when it goes after its quarry it will pick up a fish that is too heavy to lift! Unable to carry it to the shore, the fish will drag him down into the water. Instead of letting the fish go it will drown him. We as Christians must know our limitations we can only go so far. We must learn how when someone, an issue or a situation is too heavy when to give it to the LORD! Before it drags you down! God can teach you how to balance your load! "Take my yoke upon you and learn of ME, for I AM gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For MY yoke is easy and MY burden light." Matthew 11. Sometimes we must just step back and continue to pray, and turn it over to the Lord! It really is important to know when to truly “Let go and let GOD!”
Native American Indians know the value and power lessons gleaned from observing the Eagle. Having more than (7,000) seven thousand feathers they are yet lightweight, extremely strong ultrafleixible! As a Christian the spiritual warfare is ALWAYS about us, most just don’t realize it! No, this does not mean that you must live in fear or become paranoid. But it does mean that you must stay connected to the Lord. Through constant unspoken and spoken prayer one must continually stay in communication. As the Word says; “PRAY without CEASING!” We need to stay connected to the True Vine for continued ongoing spiritual development and nourishment. Jesus said, “In this world you will have trouble.” John 16. It is only through Him we can safely navigate through the rugged path. “As I walk through the valley of the shadow of death. I will fear no evil.” Psalm 23.
The Word of God is so very powerful. He never meant for it to be just mere words on paper. This is why, Jesus Christ came! He was the Word wrapped in sinless flesh! He overcame sin in the flesh to be our example! So He could come ALIVE in our hearts! Through Him we can always have HOPE! When you accept Him as Lord of your life! Your body becomes a temple, where the Lord’s Precious Holy Spirit resides! Look around you with your spiritual eyes. The Word of God is fulfilling itself listen closely:
“Jesus said watch out that NO ONE deceives you. For many will come in my name, claiming , “I AM the CHRIST, and will deceive many. You will hear of wars and rumors of wars, but see to it that you are not alarmed. Such things must take happen, before the end is still to come. Nation will rise against nation, kingdom against kingdom. There will be famines and earthquakes in various places. All these things are the beginning of pains. Then you will be handed over to be persecuted, and put to death. And you will be hated by all nations because of Me. At that time many will turn away from the FAITH and will betray hate each other, and many FALSE prophets will appear and deceive many people. Because of the increase of wickedness….” Matthew 24
In order to keep safe in the midst of turbulence; At times we have to “hide under the shadow of the Almighty.” Sometimes we have to simply move to “Higher Ground.” It is also through the Lord as His child, we are able like an Eagle at times; we can “Soar” above it! We don’t ever give up we just surrender who, or whatever it is to Him! He truly is able! God has promised as His child! “He will fight our battles!” He is Omniscient and knows everything! He knows our hearts and hears our sincere prayers! He is Omnipotent and is ALL POWER! He alone is able! When we Trust Him; “Those who HOPE in the LORD will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.” Isaiah 40. Praise GOD!!!

And I'm the second to soar on over. Nice writing DeBorrah. I enjoy reading your hubs.
Awesome writing DeBorrah.
It is unbelievable and a tad uncanny. I am working on hub entitled, "Eagle Christians." I enjoyed reading your reflection. It is filled with provocative information as well as truths to assist us on our Christian journey. There is so much in creation through which God speaks to His people. We can learn from the eagle for in God's power we can indeed rise above every conflict and soar above every difficulty. May the strength of the Lord remain with you and Thank you for this wonderful blessing!
Thank you for a well written and very enlighten and uplifting hub, thank you for sharing it. may God continue to bless you and your. creativeone59
wonderful writing thank you so much
Being a native we value the eagle highly and treat it and all animals with respect. We never kill for sport and then ride around with the head on our cars or trucks.
I don't have anything more to add of what you have written. It is very beautifully written and I am sure not many people think on how each animal God made, was THOUGHT OUT and each animal has its place and something to do.
Some are for eating and others are for cleaning the Earth which is God's domain and like our own homes, He keeps it clean so that the Earth can give forth good ground for planting and animals clean the forest so that all is kept nice and tidy.
Animals follow the law of nature that God instilled in us and animals do not kill.
Humans are worse than animals and don't obey the laws of nature or any of God's laws for that matter. There are very little people who are following the true Christ and obey the 10 commandments.
As you said..have you listened to the news? It's just full of murders of families, kids, and violence has filled the earth, all that Jesus said that would happen in the End Times is NOw happening. The Pope I heard was in Germany trying to bring back..the Roman Empire. Soon a treaty will be signed by all the rulers of nations to become ONE.
We are having all the worse weather we ever had..every day! Not just once in a while but every day there is a flood, a tsuami, a hurrican, tornado, mudslide, avalanche, etc.
An yet is worse to come! Famine is on the rise and I feel it myself..last month I was so downhearted in a sense, because I have just a pension which I could live well on..but no more..I will have to go back to work..well or not. I can't make ends meet anymore.
I was just thinking this morning of the millions of dollars the wealthy and stars spend and show off their wealth and all live banded together so that they don't live next door to a poor person because it would put down their value of their home!
Eagles mate for life! Humans mate wherever and whenever they want to..leaving children without a parent. No wonder our kids are having sex as young as 11 yrs old!
Eagles tend to their nest for life..humans don't..I've seen some homes such in a shamble and a eye sore and some have to be torn down because the nest wasn't cared for.
I have 7 cats and its so beautiful to see them care for one another even if they are not related and I got a abandoned cat which makes the 7th one and they accepted her..after only 3 days and now they play and care for her.
We better wake up and keep our eyes sharp as an eagle's otherwise we will be in a big mess. The world isn't going to get better as Satan is hurrying up to get all the souls he can as he has little time left and he knows it.
It isn't easy as there is this spiritual war between God and Satan and we are caught smack in the middle...
So on which side will you be? The Eagle or the Scavanger?
Interesting how the Christian life ought to parallel the traits of an eagle. Lots of lessons to draw form this great bird of prey. Thanks for the insight!
Another wonderful hub, DeBorrah! Great analogy! Thanks for writing it.
Tina
What an inspiring hub! Truly we can learn much from the eagle!
Thank you for sharing. God bless!
Hi DeBorrah,
That's weird, I wrote that comment above but my name did not come out.
Anyway, thanks for this beautiful hub!
Rest in the lord, for He is our shelter in the storm, our light in darkness, our strength when we are weak. Blessed be his Holy Name!! I really enjoyed this hub! Thank you for sharing this!
Thanks for the encouragement. I read references about Eagles in the word but this is the first time I'm reading facts about the graceful bird itself. Thanks for that.
Well, I guess we need to pray for Grace, cos it takes Faith to soar. Faith to move on believing God has our matters in mind and will come through for us. Faith to know that the promises we stand on will surely become a reality in our lives.
Best Wishes and Regards. :)
Very encouraging hub! The eagle is just one example of God's majesty in motion. Bless you!
Overcoming and soaring above, Yet knowing how to balance our load by giving it over to the Lord to carry. Thank you for this. I love stopping by to read what the Lord has given you to share.
Fascinating information about eagles. "Pray without ceasing." Well, there is some advice for us, eh? "Our bodies are the temples where the Holy Spirit lives." I surely wish more people realized this fact.
You are blessed with the gift of teaching. Thank you for being the conduit by which these truths may reach our ears.
DeBorrah, if only Christians would take the way of the eagle and soar! I love the fact that they mate for life. As a woman standing for her marriage ... it touches me that they hold to a principle that man can't seem to fathom. Blessings to you.
those who hope in the LORD will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.
Thanks for the good work
Awesome Hub keep sharing.
This is very powerful stuff, overwhelmingly positive and uplifting and beautifully presented, a bit for everyone thanks
A very nice article miss Ogans. Your lovely words remind us how we should honor God, and they show us the goodness that will prevail. Your photographs of the eagles are as lovely as your words. God Bless you Dear Heart.
He IS the Father who keeps His promises!
Many Blessings!
I have learned to soar as the eagle thanks to god, but when a downpour comes I must take refuge in his arms. Some for my hubs you must stay from, but you may be interested in my Plight of the Eagle, a dream. Peace and love. CC
Very encouraging hub DeBorrah. I love the story and analogy of the eagle to our lives as God's children, I always feel encouraged.
encouraging and well written. Thank you for sharing it with us.
A well-written and encouraging hub,it exudes power which comes from being in the 'secret place'. Thanks.
A little slow in arriving here to read your hub, but trully glad I made it! Super uplifting read you've written. It is sooo very true that we should trust in God all our worries and the most difficult times so that we can "SOAR" above it all to higher ground, closer to heaven! Many blessings to you this new year and also to those whom you bless with these beautifully written hubs you write. God Bless
That was truly informative! I love the fact that the eagle spends most of it's time in family groups! I'll leave with a little quote from Helen Keller. "One will never consent to creep when one has the desire to soar." Walk in the Light of our Lord sister!
Hi DeBorrah
I love the way you have captured the Eagle in the eyes of all the comments. They are majestic and worthy of admiration.
Living in the north brought me in close contact with a pair I shared a lake with, they became friends whom I shared many a fish with. The male woiuld dive bomb me almost as soon as I left the peace offering for passage to venture out in their territory, missing me by inches each time. Incredible to watch.
Blessings
I found it interesting about eagles drowning by not letting go of the fish. I was reminded that we can drown by not letting go of cares or unforgiveness. Isn't it wonderful how the Lord will meet us right where we are if we "Let go and let God?" We don't have to drown because we can always cast our cares upon Him because He care for us.
Eagle drown?? That's simply unbelievable! I guess those eagles must have extremely big egos to think they can eat up all the fishes in the water
Amen. Very interesting and true. God's creation's are all around us, if we would only take time to look.
Great analogy, Deb! I like it!
Sis, Thank you. You are the light in the darkness.
DeBorrah, GOD bless You more and more.
awesome hub, love the scriptures you have included in your hub :)
DeBorrah K. Ogans, I liked the way you integrated a spiritual lesson with the example of an Eagle drowning because it would simply not let go of its prey. This lesson of “let go and let God” in relation to huge problems must be qualified a little more, I think. Please let me relate to you what President Obama said regarding the Gulf of Mexico oil catastrophe. He astutely reminded us that God never promised to remove every obstacle before us, but rather that He would “always be with us”, even as we struggle with and work through the trials and challenges which we face. I would like to add that SOME individual (or group) challenges of extraordinary magnitude may require professional help outside of our normal “trusted” circles. I mean this in a Spiritual as well as a pragmatic sense, for some challenges (and choices) may be private/personal and others may be community/social, while still others may be technological or economic. Two examples could be:
1. The necessity of appropriate human management/intervention for wildlife [which are in distress, or under threat/endangerment]. This is done under the dominion & authority of government & citizen by way of Godly decree, as well as by National accord and treaty. Remember wildlife normally tends to avoid human “obtrusive assistance”, especially that which may seem to cause an increase their daunting peril, whether natural circumstance or not. It may even require measures to be taken in the management of other species, such as in the utilization of natural predators for population control or the increased ensurement of a good crop at harvest.
2. The recognition that some religious faithful [not under the dominion/authority of government by way of a citizen’s legal protection under constitutional/human rights and freedoms warrantee] refuse expert medical treatment when obviously necessary.
I believe that we must firstly and firmly trust God, of course, but that we must also secondly learn to trust our fellow man. For as we look inward for the strength of the God-given Holy Spirit portioned to us, we inevitably find that this inner strength is insufficient, even with all the altruistic work we do and the seemed large sacrifices we occasionally have to make (like letting go of our prize catch) – EXACTLY so that we may look UP (figuratively, because I bow my head in reverence and humility) and humbly petition Heavenly Father for His countenance and yet more of His help. We may then learn that we MUST also Reach-out, or graciously accept the Hand of Outreach – for it is THUS that we learn to love our fellow man and not deny them the blessings of unselfishness and love which our Lord wants us all to share and experience. This way for a surety, we will “Know that our Redeemer Lives”, live with a gracious heart, and better “Praise Him through the storms of life!” Thank you for allowing me to contribute to your wonderful message.
You are truly something. Thank you. You brought light on my endless search for meaning to the Eagle. This september will be three years since I got a sign that manifest as an Eagle.
Interesting enough is that you said they were classified as raptors and I often couldn't understand why this incredible eagle, a great sign from God gave me the impression of also being reptile like.
It is fascinating and I am not surprised that the Eagle plays an important role. Thank you so much.
Wow. Facts about eagles I didn't know, and I love how you related it to the life of a Believer. And I needed this today! Thank you DeBorrah!
DEBBIE AM SO BLESSED READING THIS JUST GOING THROUGH A PERSONAL CHALLENGE JUST WANT TO SINK N BE COOL BUT REALISED THAT IS NOT PART OF ME AS AN EAGLE WILL NEED TO BE VERY CAREFUL BECOS MY PREY CAN MAKE ME SINK AND ALSO WHAT HAS REALLY TOUCHED ME TODAY IS THE THE THINGS THAT THE ENEMY INTERTIONALLY PLACES ON OUR WAY AM TOUCHED THA T WORD INTERNATINALLY WHY INTERTIONALLY BECOS OF WHAT U GOT N WHAT THE LORD WILL LIKE TO USE FOR SOMETHING IS PLACED IN UR PATH TO MAKE U FALL THIS GREAT AM BLESSED LIKE I ALWAYS SAY U ARE A GREAT BLESSING TO MANY JUST BELIEVE THAT N WHEN U ALSO DOWN PLEASE REM THIS THAT JUST POSTING US SOMETHING U HAVE DONE SOME TIME BACK WILL STILL BE A GREAT BLESSING I LOVE DEBBIE AND MAY GOD BLESS U AMEN PLEASE PRAY DEEPLY FOR ME SO I COME OUT THIS TRAIL WHOLE N NOT BROKEN AMEN

Thank you very kindly for your comment !

I have loved and studied the eagle imagery in scripture. But, you have brought out some points I have never come across like the fact that an eagle can drown. Wow! Know when to let go of the prey. You do a super job in applying all of the eagle info to the victorious Christian life. Thank you!
To soar like the eagle requires christian discipline and knowing when to let go. God blesses us with the gift of understanding and to accept the things we can not change. I wish the world would stop long enough to read the writings of yours and RevLady. Truly a blessing and thank you.
Great spiritual insight here! Nature often teaches us about God as it says in the bible. Learning to trust and stay connected to God is a full time job for most of us. Another analogy about the eagle that you may be familiar with is the molting process. This process involves an eagle losing its feathers and its beek and claws becoming altered. The eagle temporarily can't hunt, fly,is weakened and its vision becomes impaired. At this stage it will need to depend on other eagles to feed it or it will die. This happens to many eagles at about 30 years of age and if they survive they become even stronger than they were previously. I'm sure you can see the spiritual parallels here.
I CAUGHT LIGHT WHEN I READ ABOUT THE EAGLE NOT LETTING IT GO.I CAME TO A REALIZATION THAT, 'WHAT WAS RECEIVED WAS GIVEN'.ANYTHING THAT IS TOO HARD ,"MENTION IT" WE SHOULD LET GO AND LET GOD.
DeBorrah K. Ogans
Beautiful writing and spiritual eyes! Thanks for sharing!
Thanks for an insightful hub.
I love your version of Isaiah 40:“Those who HOPE in the LORD will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.”
This HOPE in the Lord makes the Waiting on the Lord easier and seem less like life is just passing by as we wait. This HOPE in the Lord also strengthens us and enables us to keep walking through trials and tribulations without fainting in despair.
Thanks once again.
Beautiful piece you wrote. Your writing in lovely!
