Book of Praise Lesson Highlights

BOOK 1

Petition For God’s Judgment

Theme: Why do the wicked succeed? Although God may seem to be hidden at times, we can be assured that He is aware of every injustice!

The 3rd of seven “penitential” Psalms

~ Psalm 10 ~

Here within this brilliant Psalm, there is a passionate plea for the Lord to intervene. The author is feeling as though God is somewhat distant? Here the Psalmist is a bit remote and wants to feel closer to Him or for the Lord to manifest Himself in some manner? Whatever we are going through, know the Lord is totally aware, He is an Omnipresent God! There are times when we cannot or should not go on how we feel? It is good to express our emotions but we must keep them under control. We must step out of “self!” We must pray, meditate on His Word and seek His path as we go forward. We must instead trust the Lord and His Word to guide and comfort us during whatever we are in the midst of… “Why O Lord, do You stand far off? Why do You hide Yourself in times of trouble?”

The man or woman who is arrogant is usually quite insensitive to the needs of others. We should always be mindful of who ever it is we are speaking to. Think before you respond. “God is not a respecter of persons” though our positions vary; In His eyes we are all uniquely different but equal. Jesus Christ died for us all! Once you truly realize and embrace that God is Omniscient you will begin to see people and things from a different deeper spiritual perspective.

You should become acutely aware that you will have to answer to the Lord at some point for all your actions… Therefore you should not seek to plot or scheme against others. In actuality they will at some point backfire. Instead, Pray for those who misuse or abuse you… Do not sink to their level… Nor take part in trying to undermine the integrity of others. Be up front and simply candidly say whatever. Or simply say nothing. If not received give them over to the Lord. In actuality at some point the Lord will bring it to the Light. God always knows our intent. Seek His direction. For with HIS HELP WE CAN OVERCOME evil with GOOD!!!

"GOD WILL FIGHT YOUR BATTLES!!!"

Keep in mind the Lord is totally aware of what is going on therefore remain prayerful when you are being persecuted, misunderstood or under attack. You should instead focus on developing a growing desire for the will of the Lord to be done in your life as well as the lives of others. Trust the Lord to see you through and make your path straight! "In his arrogance the wicked man hunts down the weak, who are caught in the schemes he devises.”

We must keep in mind that there is a spiritual battle that is always going on about us. As we move closer to the Lord there are those as well as powers and principalities that be, who do not want you to draw closer to the Lord. Notice what happens when you really dedicate yourself to the Lord... Wicked people want you to stumble rather than move forward and towards the Lord. They will also attempt to hinder whatever you are doing… They will cause confusion and division rather than encourage harmony. We are not to be on one accord with the things that are not of the Lord... One must spend more time in the Word and seek to become more discerning in order or see if something is of God! Rest assured that God always is aware of our intentions.

Here we find that pride can be a hindrance. Do not be upset when wicked people appear to succeed. Everything is exposed and visible to God. Seek His will above all else. Balance is key. Neither lack nor wealth should become an obsession. Keep in mind “The earth is the Lord’s and everything in it, the world and all who live in it; for He founded it upon the seas and established it upon the waters.” Psalms 24. In HIS time He will see to it that you have all that you need as you seek His path for you... We are but stewards or caretakers of the people, things or possessions the Lord allows in our lives...

It is important that we acknowledge the Lord in all that we do! The wicked do not seek God’s way, they seek to do things contrary to the Word of God. Do not be deceived. We who are believers are to; “Seek first His Kingdom and His righteousness and ALL these things will be given to you as well.” Matthew 6. When we do this we can also expect to be misunderstood at times. However, again just draw closer to the Lord! Consecrate yourself for the Lord and spend time in prayer, fasting and worship The Lord should be our first priority as believers. “In his pride the wicked does not seek Him, in all his thoughts there is not room for God.”

GOD is The SPIRIT of TRUTH! Here we can see an interesting contrast. When someone lies on you, know it is not from the Lord! When they say something that you know is not true you also know it is not from the Lord as well. Rest in knowing that God always knows the Truth. There is no power greater than the Lord so therefore do not fret or fear. No ill intended curses, hexes/witchcraft or threats hurled at you should hinder you from doing the will of the Lord. God is Omnipotent! However one must be aware of the many tactics and strategies of evil doers. As God's child your very presence threatens them... Do not support what you know to be wrong in anyone.

When necessary separate yourself from those who intentionally bring confusion and mayhem. There will always be those to undermine your efforts to advance the Lord’s kingdom. Do not fear for we are covered by the precious Blood of Christ Jesus. Keep looking to the LORD! Know; “You cannot curse what God has blessed.” Numbers 23. This will eventually come to naught. Stay encouraged in the Lord! When there is much spiritual warfare about you just; “Be STILL & KNOW!” Spend quality time with the Lord and seek His direction forward. “His mouth is full of curses and lies and threats; trouble and evil are under his tongue.”

Here in this Psalm we can experience the wonderful security and benefits of being in the Lord’s presence. We can call upon the Lord at anytime! In Him we can find sanctuary. He has placed an altar within our hearts. It is important to not wait until you are having a problem, at your wits end, totally stressed out or are in need to talk to God. Spend time with Him on a daily basis. Solidify your position with Him. This will help you from becoming so stressed in the first place. This will help you ride out the storms of life under the shadow of “The Almighty!” You do not want GOD to be a stranger. God is truly faithful! Even when you have not called upon Him; once you do so in sincerity He will rise to the occasion. Know GOD is NOT a genie. He is not ours to command. But ours to adore, reverence and respect! Yes, boldly, Call upon the Lord; For He is ever present to help us! “Arise, Lord! Lift up Your hand, O God, Do not forget the helpless.”

God truly is able to see us through any situation. It may be hard to conceive but the Lord is totally aware of what is going on with everyone. He knows what has happened, what is happening and what will happen. This is why we should always consult Him above all else. We must get better at listening! Listening requires being still. The psalmist is trying to help us see that God really does see it all. It is important to know that whenever we are grieving we are not alone. The Lord is right there to help us bear any grief or sorrow! We are never alone no matter who abandons us. Even when you think that you have no one, or you are helpless or defenseless you can always turn to the Lord! God can and will deliver you! He is ALWAYS available. Never Give UP! We can totally trust the LORD! “But You O God, do see trouble and grief; You consider it to take it in hand. The victim commits himself to You; You are the helper of the fatherless.”

The Lord reigns, rules and super rules! He is Sovereign and Supreme! Nations will rise and fall and so will mankind they will come and go... But they will never become as powerful as the Lord. Whenever we are being oppressed we must look to the Lord! The Lord can lift us above the entrapments, landmines and snares that are designed to make us stumble or fall! Some will attempt to try and take God's place. Pray for spiritual discernment and dilligently seek the Lord's will for your life! The Lord is able to rescue us from any trouble. Do not let anyone pull you so low that you become a manipulator… Let God direct your path. God will and can work any and every situation out for our good!

For many years the United States and the world at large had been oppressed and terrorized by Osama Bin Laden and his many followers… The Lord used President Obama to end his reign of terror. There is always something, someone or some group that is bent on being the continued catalyst for evil. They elect to be the conduit for trouble to permeate the environment. Terrorists of some sort have always been agents of destructive behavior. Now we have ISIS among us who are radical terrorists. They seem to be at the forefront of worldwide terrorism... It will only last for a season. As long as there is mankind there will be something. LORD HELP US! KEEP in mind; GOOD will always win out over evil! Bin Laden was cast down therefore in time so will ISIS. Let this be an example and reminder that in the Lord’s time He will always see that justice prevails! "PRAISE GOD from whom ALL BLESSINGS FLOW" Every GOOD & PERFECT GIFT comes from GOD!

Whenever we are going through we must learn to lean and trust in the LORD! God is truly able! Thank God for Jesus Christ! He is “King of Kings and Lord of Lord! We can have complete and total confidence in the Lord! “To GOD be the GLORY!”

This Psalms concludes saying:“The Lord is king forever and ever; the nations will perish from His hand. You hear, O Lord, the desire of the afflicted; You encourage them, and You listen to their cry, defending the fatherless and the oppressed, in order that man, who, is of the earth, may terrify no more!”
