Spiritual Journey From The Beginning To The End Of The PSALM
~ Psalm 9 ~
The Psalms are a brilliant, spectacular, marvelous collection of ancient Israel’s God breathed hymnbook of one hundred and fifty songs! Many of them were composed during Israel’s training in the wilderness! It is here they learned some of their greatest life sustaining spiritual lessons!
We today in this 21st century can benefit greatly from the lessons gleaned from these spiritual heartfelt poetical songs!
The Psalms prolifically and joyfully proclaim the power of The Most High God! He has and continues to demonstrate His Power in magnificent awe inspiring wonders, actions, miracles and deeds! His presence is made evident through His creation! The Lord is Sovereign and super rules. He is the God of Abraham, Isaac, Jacob and Moses! He is the Great “I AM!” Who was, is and always will be! Throughout this glorious hymnal of praise and worship we can experience triumph, grief, anxiety, fear, defeat, hope, courage, spiritual insight, Victory and Thanksgiving!
God in His time will intervene on behalf of His people. However He will allow His wrath to vehemently spew forth in order to get our attention as well!
It is through Praise we are able to express our appreciation and admiration for the Lord! We acknowledge Him for His Divine and Holy nature that is above all others! As we take time to personally and as well as corporately Praise the Lord we enhance and expand our inner spiritual depth and perceptions! We are better able to understand more and more about who He is and His marvelous unfailing love for us!
Whenever a situation or issue arises we must learn to first seek out the Lord above all else! God is our vindicator! He has justified us through Faith in Him! As believers He has given us His precious Holy Spirit as our inner Guide, Comforter and Teacher. Once you truly accept Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior you will never ever have to walk alone again!
As you study the Scriptures you will be able to learn more about the promises of God! You will also become better equipped to recognize spiritual warfare! This 9th Psalm helps us to learn how to better navigate through the spiritual warfare and the maze of life! It encourages us to lean and depend on the Lord when you are falsely accused, criticized, ignored, maligned, misunderstood or mistreated! In this life we will face many injustices… It is during those times you are able to experience the presence of the Lord as you continue to focus on Him!
We can experience the Peace of God even when in the midst of trials! Unless you allow nothing can separate you from the Love of God! “For I am convinced that neither death nor life, angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor ANY powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in ALL creation will be able to separate us from the Love of God that is in Christ Jesus our LORD!” Romans 8. No matter what we can remain connected to the Love of God! This is why it is so important to Know the Lord and His Word for yourself!
As you learn how to trust Him He will relieve any fear or worry as you cast your cares on Him! When others take a back seat, or sit on the side line, God will take the forefront of your life as you allow Him to take the helm of your life! You will worry less about what others think and be more concerned about what God knows!
GOD will NEVER leave nor forsake us! It is important to write this on the table of your heart! This does not mean that we will escape, loss, grief or harm but it does mean that the Lord will see us through whatever and will Never leave nor forsake us no matter who or what we face! God truly is FAITHFUL!

Book of Praise Lesson Highlights
BOOK 1
Praise for Victory over Enemies
Theme: God never ignores our cries for help.
The 3rd of seven “penitential” Psalms
Praise should be an integral part of our daily lives as believers! Each day is precious and another opportunity to learn and spiritually grow! Anything that is not growing is dead! As children of God we are forever growing as long as we are connected to the Vine on this side of Heaven. “Do not let your hearts be troubled. TRUST in GOD; TRUST also in Me.” John 14. This is one of the most important basic promises in the Scriptures! Here Jesus points us to the Narrow Way to eternal life! Jesus is the only way to the Father! He reassures us that He has prepared a place for us! We can look forward to eternal life with Him and all those who Love Him!
As we expand our awareness of who God is we can become more secure in who we are in Him! Our spiritual eyes are gradually opened more and more and we are able to see a horizontal, vertical and temporal reality of the world and our surroundings! The many cycles of life become more apparent. We desire to live less in dysfunction!
Here in these Psalms are many theological life lessons to learn, embrace and apply! Here we can learn how to better access the Lord! His Holy Spirit will guide us to all Truth! It is our choice to follow!
As we become mindful of the Lord our natural tendency to Praise Him grows! We then begin to give Him His rightful place in our lives. He is not and after thought! Our desire grows to live life to please HIM! David teaches us the beauty of God being an inclusive part of our daily lives! Our outward expressions becomes a reflection of our inner spiritual oneness with the Lord! Throughout the day look for ways to acknowledge the Lord for who He is! Draw closer to Him and invite Him into your thought processes and day to day activities! I often find my hands automatically lifting to the Lord throughout the day! It is a gesture of Praise and recognition for who He is in my life! God is worthy of our Praise! He is The Most High God! Above Him is no other!
“I will PRAISE YOU, O LORD, with all my heart; I will tell of all Your wonders. I will be glad and rejoice in YOU; I will sing praise to Your Name, O MOST HIGH.”
As we look about us in this 21st century it is clear that many have pushed the ways of the Lord aside. Many go to or attend worship regularly yet go right back home to a life that is compartmentalized. The Scriptures are quite often selectively addressed, many simply elect to embrace the principles and morals of the world. The Lord is only invited into part of their life! His Word has become and after thought and what is most popular is how they are usually led. God has not changed! He wants to be in every area of our lives! We can experience Him each and every day! Christianity was not meant to be a religious experience but a daily lifestyle! God will and can make a difference and transformation in your life! It is never too late to change and begin to embrace His principles!
The Psalms gives us a glimpse into the full range of human behavior and emotions! God is everywhere! We can worship Him wherever we are! He is Sovereign! In Him we can live rich full spiritually abundantly fulfilled lives! “Praise is to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! In His great mercy He has given us new birth into a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, and into an inheritance that will NEVER perish, spoil or fade – kept in Heaven for you, who through FAITH are shielded through His Power until the coming of the Salvation that is ready to be revealed at this last time. In this you greatly REJOICE, though now for a little while you may have had to suffer grief in all kinds of trials…” I Peter 1.
In the Psalm it becomes evident that suffering is often quite intertwined throughout our lives! However through the spiritual rebirth process it regenerates us! It is through this experience we discover “living hope!” We can become continually refreshed and encouraged to move onward and upward knowing that our well being and our future rest in the LORD! The Word is “Alive & Powerful!” The Lord looks after His people! Here we are reassured that our inheritance is irrevocable and safe in Heaven! No man can take this away from us nor can they change this fact! This is why it is so important to know the Lord and His Word for yourself! Forever means forever!
“The LORD reigns forever; He has established His throne for judgment. He will judge the world in righteousness. He will govern the peoples with justice.”
There is no better place to put your Trust than in the Lord! The Holy Spirit sanctifies us! Our inheritance is sealed with the promise of His Holy Spirit! “having believed, you were marked in Him with a seal, the promised Holy Spirit, who is a deposit guaranteeing our inheritance unto the redemption of those whose are God’s possession – to the PRAISE of HIS GLORY!” Ephesians 1. The Holy Spirit is our seal that we belong to the Lord!
Trials are a part of the refining process of life! We are to allow the Light of the Lord to shine through us in this world that is growing dark! We are called to be the salt of the earth. Salt represents being a preservative! We are to govern ourselves by the Lord’s Word rather than man’s ever changing and fluctuating principles! Don’t compromise the principles of the Lord in order to be accepted! Remember it was the spiritual leaders that rejected and crucified our Lord Jesus Christ! As the Lord knew where Judas was He knows where those are who will betray us as well! He will direct our path over or through any spiritual warfare! His Word teaches us to “overcome evil with GOOD!” We can trust all of God’s Word!
“Those who know Your Name will trust in You, for You, LORD, have never forsaken those who seek You.”
The current international news headlines are alarming! Japan, Chile, Brazil, Philippines, Australia, Haiti and many more are experiencing catastrophic weather conditions all over the world. Major earthquakes and tsunami’s resulting in many lives being lost, many families grieving over the lost of loved ones… many displaced and homeless families! The Scriptures have prophesied that in these last days that this would be the case! Still within all this chaos going on about us our trust must be in the Lord!
Notice what has happened in Egypt and is currently going on in Libya! The mass protests and international intervention have resulted in long time leader Hosni Marbarak being overthrown. He finally resigned after 30 years of autocratic rule! The military stepped forward and has now taken over controlling power. Also in Libya Colonel Muammar Gaddifi continues to inflame the people! Many injustices he has inflicted upon the people for decades. This has resulted in many plunging to their deaths in protest! Nations have joined together saying enough! Thousands have died from cholera in Haiti due to the living conditions brought on after its devastating earthquake! It is far worst than MANY EXPECTED! “Before last year's devastating earthquake in the Caribbean nation, no cases of cholera had been seen on Haiti for more than a century. Thousands have died! The major earth quake in Japan continues to report the climbing statistics of thousands of lives lost and many displaced and homeless… These are only a few of the many atrocities that are happening throughout the world! The Lord is speaking! The world can only go so long and ignore the Lord as Creator and Lord! “The nations have fallen into the pit they have dug; their feet are caught in the net that they have hidden.”
Here in this Psalm we are encouraged to sing praises to the Lord! To proclaim to the nations all He has done! Mt Zion represents the hill the temple was built upon. It was a grand place of worship built by King Solomon on Mt Moriah in Jerusalem! Here the Israelites were to share and proclaim to the world about the one true God! We as believers must also acknowledge the Lord for who He is! When a nation turns their back on the Lord although not always readily apparent the consequences are enormous. God created us for His Glory!
David cries out in anguish despite being persecuted by his enemies. He wanted justice to be served in order to demonstrate the Lord’s power! It may seem like they are winning for a season but the wicked never win in the long run. Absolutely nothing is hidden to the Lord! It is important to keep in mind that God is totally aware of our motives as well as the motives of others. God knows what we have or have not done! He also promises to meet all our needs according to His riches in Christ Jesus! Even when others appear to have forgotten God knows just where we are! David reminds us that we too can always trust the Lord to work everything out for Good! With everything going on about us we can always have hope in the Lord! This Psalms teaches us that man will never triumph over the Lord! It is through Jesus Christ we can become more than conquerors! When we submit to His will and His way we can always emerge victoriously! PRAISE GOD!
This Psalm concludes saying; “Arise O LORD, let not man triumph; let the nations be judged in your presence. Strike them with terror, O LORD; let the nations know they are but men.”

Beautiful and inspiring Hub. May nothing separate us from the Love of God. Challenges can be really tough sometimes, but may God keep us strong through His Word.
God Bless. xx
wonderful sis
I like your point about us being more and more compartmentalized. We really do need to see each other as part of a whole.
This Psalms teaches us that man will never triumph over the Lord! It is through Jesus Christ we can become more than conquerors! When we submit to His will and His way we can always emerge victoriously! PRAISE GOD! Amen and Amen.
The world refuses to accept this truth to its own destruction. God is speaking loudly to all of us in the world events you delineated and others. His truth reigns supreme and time is winding down for man's continued rebellion against his Creator.
Great Hub DeBorrah. It speaks volumes. Thank you for confronting us with the words of the Psalmist that continues to echo through the centuries proclaiming the one true God.
Love, peace, and joy in our Lord,
Forever His
It is amazing to me how people will trust their lives to the most unstable things and totally diss the Lord who is trustworthy. People trust their doctor, their lawyer, accountant, their money, their job but all of that is not worthy like the Lord. Love you sister DeB.
I agree that compartmentalization of our faith is a big problem in Western mentality. It is so easy to put God and fellowship with believers in their neat little Sunday boxes then live the rest of the week as if He doesn't exist.
I like these quotes that you made:
"Christianity was not meant to be a religious experience but a daily lifestyle"
"We are to govern ourselves by the Lord's Word rather than man's ever fluctuating principles"
Amen He never changes. Some find this restricting. I however find it comforting and reliable.
Enjoyed your look at Psalm 9
Excellent hub with great thoughts to ponder about. Truly we are living in perilous times wherein so much calamities are happening all over the world. In these difficult times we have no other shield but the Lord. It is high time to walk in the fear of the Lord for His mercy is great to those who fear Him. Thank you for sharing these comforting words in this difficult times. Remain blessed always. Best regards.
DeBorrah Sister I have tears running down my cheeks. The HOLY Spirit moving from you to me. This is so beautiful, heartfelt, wisdom, truth, inspiring and touching. You know I was led here. Christ is moving me around the hubs of love today and for a reason. You keep on precious Child of God. You are a 5 star diamond. Keep shining that love of yours. Sending a hug.
Lifting you and yours in prayer In Him, Jesus Christ.
Compartmentalized. What a perfect word to describe the spiritual condition of America. Keep that part private! Boy, how this country has gone down the tubes. But I am hoping for revival! For a new Great Awakening.
Thank you very much for delivering yet another wonderful missive. All of your work is excellent. God Bless You Sister!
Hello DeBorrah, please keep on sharing the Word and the Light. May God's Counsel stand. I post a clip below of men in America being arrested for preaching. I have to admit though, maybe he should have stopped when he was asked to.... but this is what the world has come to.
Best Wishes
Great hub with great thoughts to live by. Amidst the unfavorable and catastrophic circumstances that are happening in our world today truly we can still have confidence and joy in living because of the presence of God's everlasting love.Only in Him we can have perfect security. Thank you for bringing out these timeless truths here at Hubpages. Blessings always to you and your family. Best regards.
Great message. When we begin to trust Him, our attitude and actions are a reflection of Him, and others start to see more clearly the message contained inside the words. As it is stated in verse 18 - the needy shall not always be forgotten and the expectation of the poor shall not perish. Christ came to make true this memory and expectation. He knows where we all are and what we need. Nothing escapes His watchful eye. Praise the Lord for His oversight and mercy. Peace
