~ Psalm 14 ~ Spiritual Journey From the Beginning To The End OF The Psalm ~

David was an amazing, extraordinary, multi talented man. He was a shepherd boy, musician, warrior and father as well King. He had a plethora of responsibilities. It is here within these prodigious, brilliant, profound insightful Psalms we are able to experience a degree of the voluminous wisdom in which he was endowed with from above. David vehemently and passionately expresses his love and respect for the Lord as well as his distress and many anxieties! Here we gain insight into the emotional elevations and despondent lows in which he candidly expresses his sentiments.

This particular Psalm deals stringently with folly. To be a fool is sheer madness. A fool is known for his or her lack of good sense and or poor judgment! It is an offensive term deeming that he or she does not behave sensibly and is ignorant and possibly evil as well! You quite often hear someone refer to another by calling them a fool in a jokingly casual manner. Here within the context of this passage of scripture, this is a title that comes with somber derogatory connotations that should not be taken likely. Here the fool does not want to acknowledge that God exists. This is totally absurd!

If God does not exist why does right or wrong matter? If there are no eternal consequences for our behavior why not just do whatever you please whenever you please? Well, in this 21st century many simply just ignore God and His Word! Or they pick and selectively choose whatever suits their fancy, then proceeds to do and or encourages doing whatever “feels good!” many don't believe in eternal damnation... They often foolishly repeat their folly… The fool is often endangered by his or her words and walks a troublesome path!

One is often thought of as foolish when they believe in God! As we look around there is no getting past that big spectacular sky above us. The lush imperious aero landscape is impeccably ostentatious! The billowy clouds above are in gentle continuous motion defying gravity. No one can go any higher than God allows! It is clearly a marvelous indication that a Presence so much greater than you or I is in charge of everything! This did not all happen by a “Big Bang!” “The heavens declare the Glory of God!...” The firmament is His handiwork that vociferously attests to and proclaims that God Almighty truly is; The Great “I AM!” There is nobody or presence greater than God!

The Psalms were written to different audiences over several centuries. The central theme throughout the Psalm is worship! Each day is beyond a shadow of doubt a gift from the Lord; He is the Giver and Sustainer of life! God is eternal and Omnipresent! “I AM the Alpha and Omega, the First and the Last, the Beginning and the End.” Revelation 22. He always has been and always will be!

Book of Praise Lesson Highlights

BOOK 1

“A Psalm of David.” The characteristics of the Godless.

Theme: Only the fool denies GOD! How foolish it must seem to God when people says there is no God.

Author: David

The 6th of seven “penitential” Psalms

You would have to be a fool in order to deny the existence of God according to the principles in His Word. By doing so one further discounts their own existence! I do understand that there are atheists who don’t believe in anything… It is foolish pride that deceives one to believe that there is no one greater than self… Here whether the fool actually expresses audibly he does not believe in God; it is quite clear he expresses it in his heart! This further displays a lack of self worth! GOD KNOWS what is in our hearts. No doubt his actions are in conjunction with his or her lack of belief in God! Their behavior is void of respect for godly principles and instead sin is readily embraced.

It is a fool that rejects the Lord according to His Word. Non believers who reject God are missing an invaluable facet of life. Nor can they grasp His principles for life and living, They are to a degree greatly limited in comprehending the things of God. They may know of Him but not KNOW HIM! They are void of His Holy Spirit and their mind is closed to the spiritual things of God. A shroud of darkness hovers to keep them blinded to the Truth of God’s Word! As a person who is tone deaf and cannot hear the melodic tones of a musical composition they do not spiritually hear nor take heed to God’s message of Truth! They have ears but do not hear… This passage teaches us that: “The fool says in his heart, there is no GOD. They are corrupt, their deeds are vile; there is no one who does good.”

God is a loving, caring and compassionate God! His mercy endures forever! Therefore He patiently waits and allows life and living to continue upon the earth. Here on this side of heaven is determined by the lives we live where we each will live eternally. God knows our hearts and is totally aware of all of us! He is Omniscient! A fool does not embrace or comprehend the fact that God is all knowing! The Lord knows that we are “works of art in progress.” Life presents many tests and challenges giving us the opportunity to draw closer to our Creator and Maker! The Lord allows us to choose the “Narrow Road” that leads to Him or the “broad road” that leads to destruction. He attentively examines our actions.

Wisdom causes us to delve deeper into life and eventually discover that we do much more than merely exist! These perishing earthly bodies are simply a temporary covering for our souls! We all have a final destination… When the Lord opens our understanding we embark upon a spiritual quest that opens our spiritual senses and we begin to commence to live on a deeper echelon. Our relationship and friendship with Him begins to flourish and blossom! We move towards “perfection!” Which is the state of becoming “Complete” in Him! As believers diligently seeking the Lord and His will for us as well as developing our spiritual mind should be our ultimate life purpose! “The Lord looks down from heaven on the sons of men to see if there are any who understand, any who seek God.”

As you and I grow spiritually we can better discern the things of God! Our conscious becomes more sensitive to Him and we are drawn to do the right thing. However robed in a body of flesh we have a persuasive proclivity to sin that has been knitted into the fabric of our bodies. The spiritual battle is ongoing… This is why we ALL need Jesus! To save us from sin overtaking us. We can cry out to Him 24/7! His Holy Spirit can help us emerge Victoriously! Praise God & Thank You Lord!

We must become constantly aware of the spiritual warfare that is designed to pull us away from God and what is right. The evil powers and principalities that be; work in chorus to stop us from “calling on the name of the Lord!” Seeking to interrupt our relationship with Him and seduce us to become self centered and pull us away from what is right. To again encourage us to do what “feels good” even if it is in direct opposition to the principles of God. It is God who has determined what is moral or immoral Many have simply set the principles of God aside and embraced the principles of the world. To them God has become optional! They elect to turn away from Him and to turn away from worshipping Him as well!

The works of the flesh rather than the Fruit of His Spirit become paramount when one ignores God’s principles for life! This is why we must pray, fast, meditate on His Word and daily seek His will for our lives. We can call on the Name of Jesus to help us and open our understanding to help us better navigate within this maze of life! There is ULTIMATE POWER in the Name of Jesus! When we accept Him as Savior and Lord He becomes our advocate against sin! The LORD is SOVEREIGN!

We were created to worship the Lord! He allows us to choose! Above Him is no other! In the scriptures we can see the difference when one worships the Lord. David worshipped God and Israel benefitted greatly! They prospered under his leadership! There were many kings that came after him that did not worship the Lord! We can see the difference the Lord made in David’s life! Going against what God says is futile and eventually the consequences will become apparent! It is not how things appear in the eyes of man but rather what God knows! Woe! Here in this Psalm we learn thatThe fool says in his heart that there is no GOD!”

We as believers must not allow ourselves to be devoured by those who do not acknowledge the Lord! We also must be ready to stand on His Word when others may sit on the fence or fail to stand up for godly principles. The Word of God is being fulfilled all around us! There is much spiritual warfare designed to weigh us down and attempt to pull us off course. We are supposed to live life to please Him rather than allow the ways of the world to dictate our lifestyles!

David openly expressed himself to the Lord when there was much opposition against him. He worshipped the Lord during times of great opposition and distress! He sang praises to Him that have stood the tests and trials of time! We too as David must become avid worshippers of the Lord!

Worshipping the Lord refuels us! As we magnify the Lord through worship we exalt Him! We “Make HIM BIG!” He becomes bigger than any problem or obstacle that tries to hinder us! This frustrates and perplexes those that do not understand what life is all about! Our purpose is to glorify the Lord in all that we do!If God be for us who can be against us…” Romans 8.

We are to “overcome evil with Good!” When insults are hurled our way or traps are devised to ensnare us or stumbling blocks are placed in our path we are better able to overcome them! We can prevail victoriously as we keep our eyes focused on the Lord! Come what may; even when life as we know it on this earth ends… We will later learn in these Psalms: “God is our Refuge and strength He is an Ever present Help in the time of trouble!” Psalm 46. We can forever put our trust in the Lord! He is always with us! He will never leave nor forsake us! His Word teaches usHe is the Alpha and the Omega, the First and the Last, the Beginning and the End!” Revelation 22.

David speaks often about those who oppose him. Israel prevailed tremendously when they honored the Lord under David’s reign! There is a clear distinction between those who worship God and those who refuse to worship Him! This is still true today! When we worship the Lord and acknowledge Him as Lord we enter into His Presence. Thank you Lord for you mercy, forgiveness, faithfulness and unfailing Love! Through Jesus Christ we are more than conquerors! Thank God for His Holy Spirit! “Will evildoers never learn ~ those who devour my people as men eat bread and who do not call on the Lord? There they are overwhelmed with dread, for God is present in the company of the righteous.”

PRAISE GOD! PRAISE GOD!! & PRAISE GOD!!! HALLELUJAH! "TO GOD BE THE GLORY!"

This Psalm concludes saying: “Oh, that Salvation for Israel would come out of Zion! When the Lord restores the fortunes of His people let Jacob rejoice and Israel be glad.”
